C., THURSDAY, JUNE 19^ 1947 Weather Wednesday: High 89, low 56, humidity 48 . . . Who in the north would dream that the thermometer ever dropped to 56 in Tryon in the middle of June? Just shows you have to live here to appreciate the cool nights and general all ’round good climate . . . A problem of interest to many people here is the parking situa tion. Some don’t want parking meters. They say it will spoil the looks of Trade Street, will hurt Tryon, et cetera. One business man who says he is guilty of park * on Trade Street, is willing have a rule for all business houses including owners and clerks to keep their cars off Trade Street parking spaces, and not have park ing meters. Tl%e Curb Reporter is making a poll of this situation. What do you think? So far it is about 50-50 in opinion. Several clerks said they thought it would be all rierht and would be willing to pay 5c per hour for parking space. One shopper said finding a nickel would be an inconvenience sometime, and that she had al ways managed to find parking space. Another says what good would it do if the police don’t enforce collection of parking meter _Continued on Back Page SALUDA NEWS NOTES Presbyterian, Baptist, and Meth odist Church, Sunday school 10 a. m. Church service at 11 a. m. Evening service at 8, preceded by Young Peoples’ meeting at Baptist and Presbyterian Churches. No evening service at Methodist. Sun day school only, at present, at the Episcopal Church, at 10 a. m. Mrs. Henry Twiggs and her mother, Mrs. Lawson, arrived from Cuba on Wednesday and were joined by Henry, Jr., and his wife, who have been at Clemson College. Henry Twiggs, Sr., will not be able to have his usual long vaca tion at this time, giving place to his business associates who have been unable to have a vacation during the war years. He will come at the end of the summer to take his family back to Cuba. After a short visit in Saluda, Hen ry, Jr., will go to Camp Lee, Va., and his wife will remain with the family in Saluda. Mrs. John Kohn and Miss Vir ginia Kohn came on Tuesday from Montgomery, Ala., to their summer home - on Columbia Heights in Saluda. • ! Mr. and Mrs. J. a. JNaoers ana j their sons, Alex and Sam, are at ' Melrose Cottage. - Mr. and Mrs. Jim Anglin of Blacksburg, S. C., visited friends in Saluda last week.
